The Red-whiskered Bulbul is resident in tropical Asia from Pakistan and India through to Southeast Asia and China. It has been introduced to New South Wales, Florida and many other places around the world.
They are often considered as invasive birds. They where also introduced in Mauritius and Reunion, where they are considered a pest that steals crops and fruit trees.
He is commonly knows as the Mauritius Blackbird an is accused of endangering an endemic specie: the Reunion Bulbul, its direct competitor.
