The Mascarene Paradise-flycatcher has a blue crested head, chestnut wings and upperparts, grey underparts and eyes surrounded by a ring of pale skin. All this elements give him a surprising and aesthetic general effect. Besides, this bird recalls Japanese paintings made with Indian ink, showing birds from the same family.
During reproduction, the male displays his plumage and raises his long tail and his bill. He has a sharp sweet call, mostly around the coupling period. The female builds the nest with twigs and spider webs. She sits on the eggs while the male defends fiercely his territory.
