Ebony :

The wood coming from this tree is quite valuable. It is an intense black, veined wood. The heartwood is also heavy and fine-grained. Clear cut, it is a very hard wood to work with tools, and has a straight splitting.

Finely sequined with oxalic acid crystal inlays, this wood has a sparkly aspect.

Perfect polish, shiny, very smooth, matte or glossy and very heavy (density of 1.00 to 1.10), this wood is cut into sapwood light enough to be carried by a man (30-70 kg). It is later joined with another less dense wood to ensure its buoyancy.
